Current State of The Construction Industry
Today, nearly 40% of CO2 emissions are attributable to buildings and 50% of the solid waste in the United States is produced by the building construction industry. This places a large responsibility on us to innovate sustainable alternatives to traditional construction methods such as concrete, aluminum, and steel.

Many building construction firms have difficulty justifying the financial costs of building up to LEED green building standards. However, we at Denovo Development, LLC have come to know that building green with no increase in cost is in fact possible with systems level planning early on in the design-build schematics stage.
Building green is one of the best strategies for meeting our global challenges of climate change. The average LEED certified building uses 32% less electricity and saves 350 metric tons of CO2 emissions annually (USGBC). Consequently, we focus on addressing sustainability in our R&D with our material choice of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT). Whereas a tonne of cement emits nearly a tonne of carbon in its making, a tonne of mass timber CLT will, through the trees from which it is made, directly remove up to two tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere.
Our goal is to develop energy-efficient urban buildings that surpass LEED standards, operate off the grid through solar power technology, empower local retail businesses, and reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases with the healthy atmospherics of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT).
LEED Buildings Definition
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building rating system was developed by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and tracks buildings constructed with environmental performance, energy efficiency, and end-user health and well-being as primary goals.
